Future Poker Stars

Starting out on Blogger.com

I'm not very good at this Blogging stuff but I thought I'd try out a spot here. My intention is to update my progress at the tables. I have a hard time understanding the reasons to keep a blog such as this but I'm going to try it out and see how it goes. Anyway I'll do my best to update here a few times a week.

I got into playing sitngos online about the very end of 2004 and actually made about $6K between the beginning of '05 to the end of January '06. All of the sitngos were at Party however about $3k of the $6k came from a win at a MTT on Starts. It was an $11 dollar entry tourney with over 2k people entered. For some reason I really haven't played many MTTs since. I guess I generally just don't have the time to commit to them. STTs are easier because a set takes less than an hour. I do play multiple sets at a time but if something comes up with family I can end my set and be done.

Anyway, since January of '06 and the structure change at Party I haven't done very well. February was a minimal gain month of a 7.6 ROI and I bounced back in March with a 20% ROI. Then April came and my ROI was a whopping .36%!. I made a few dollars in May and broke even in June and lost in July with a -10% ROI. It seemed I did not handle the speed swings very well.

So it was in May that I decided I needed to try to hire a coach, which I did. The deal was that he would review ten tourneys. He also convinced me to move to Stars since PP was doing great for me and also he played their and could review the hands more easily. He did a great job of pointing out my flaws and did a nice recap for me after they were all done. I think the only problem with this research was that most of what I sent him was ITMs since I was running pretty good as I started on Stars.

Well this is getting pretty lengthy. The bottom line is I am confident that I am a winning player but I don't think I handle the swings well. I don't play huge sample sizes each month due to time and negative sets affect me more than they should. I believe my biggest leak is that I try to work my way out of a negative set. So I need to set some type of cap on my sets to get me out of them without wiping out my previous set wins.

Ok, well that's a health starts. I'll try to post more regularily if it matters.
